John’s Story
John discovered a love for flying as a young man. After many years flying professionally, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Aviation Safety Inspector. John served in various leadership positions during his tenure in the FAA – ending his career in the position of Associate Administrator of Aviation Safety. John led over 7,200 employees in that role and had an incredible positive impact on aviation safety in the USA and globally.
John is a transformational leader. During his time as an executive, he led a complex culture change within the FAA and externally with our nation’s aviation stakeholders. Under his leadership, John created clear strategic alignment with FAA leaders to the safety mission. He was ceaseless in his drive to set the vision for a much-needed culture change and equip over 850 leaders to lead employees through that change.
His approach with clients is one of curiosity and transparency. He uses wit and storytelling to help clients see the bigger picture. John’s area of expertise is as a coach/mentor to executives in matters relating to culture change, change management, and creating vision and alignment. John holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science from Florida Technological University.
Since his retirement from the FAA, John is a much sought-after aviation consultant and leadership coach/mentor. He lives in a fly-in community in North Carolina with his wife and enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren and building and flying his personal airplanes.
